Sorry, I think I forgot how to blog for a while there… Also, all he%$ broke loose with school and grad school and yikes. But I digress…

In Fairbanks:

  • It finally snowed and stuck. It's not too too cold yet, but this is it, winter has begun. I'm happy about it. :)
  • I survived Halloween in my classroom with a room full of crazy kids. I kept things as calm as possible, but one can only do so much… The photo of the skeletons above makes me laugh– I asked the kids to put their skeletons on the windowsill when they were done with them, and they posed them like this. Later, I hung them all around the classroom in funny poses.
  • We took munchkin to the Halloween carnival at her preschool last weekend. She was tired and it was pretty dang loud and crazy in there, but I think she had fun. There was a cake auction and we bid on WAY too many goodies. R took most of the stuff to her work, thank goodness.

Now we're just waiting on the trick or treaters! Happy Halloween, all! Enjoy your sweeties and fun.

What I've done for the past 3 weeks (besides not blog)

  • My mom is here visiting from New Mexico, and I've hauled her all over Fairbanks. We are having unseasonably warm weather here, which is delightful.
  • Emily (niece) spent the night with us and was a lot of fun. In a way I wish she was still a baby, but she's really getting to be so much fun to play with now that she's 3.
  • My little brother got married to a nice Australian girl he kidnapped and brought to the US. They eloped and got married at San Francisco city hall 2 weeks ago.
  • I've been working crazy hard on grad school stuff and my National Board teacher certification portfolio. I now have to videotape myself– how fun.
  • My cat ate an entire fur mouse last week. That can't have tasted good.

I guess that's about it! Dang, I thought was busier than that.

[The pic is from the University of Alaska Museum of the North. It is a light and sound installation called "The Place Where You Go to Listen." It kind of defies descrtiption, but this guy tried.]
