This is the first true sprout to appear from our batch of mystery plants. The kids picked choice 1, 2, or 3. Choice 2 is a white bean, but they won't learn what it is until the plants are all grown up. Isn't it sweet? I was going to get a full-spectrum lamp, but they seem to be doing fine under a 75 watt bulb.
Things are busy, but the kids seem to have reached a good place. They work pretty hard for me, and behavior problems are much less of an issue. From this point forward May seems visible and attainable. That's a good thing, because this has not been an easy year. It's been…character building. For me, and for the kids. They come from pretty dysfunctional homes, with a lot of relocating and upheaval and abuse and lack of parenting and all of those other peripheral issues. That makes the small things, like this tiny bean sprout, all the more miraculous. Religious persuasion aside, how neat is it to see new life grow?
