On days like today I need a manual transmission so that I can shift myself into 5th gear. There's too much I need to do. I realized eventually that there will never be a time when things slow down. All I can do is keep up. I guess it's a good thind that I'm a strong swimmer. (I'm saving up mixed metaphors for a nice mixed metaphor stew. I already have one from the Albuquerque Journal: "We're beating ourselves up with a dead horse.") Jet lag has me waking up at 6:00. Wish I could say I did something good with that time. Instead I read in bed for a long time, did a load of laundry, drank lots of coffee, and made falafel. Maybe I did get a few things done.

Speaking of laundry (keep up here, I was a minute ago,) my parents' washer broke yesterday, so they're taking mine. I had to know that my life of luxury would end eventually. Ah, well. I can kid myself and say that I missed the opportunity to read and people watch at the laundromat. And the excuse to save quarters a la Ebeneezer Scrooge.

Good month at school. The conclusion (praise the Lord) of the Mars project, geometry, states and capitals, and poetry. Plus a 4 day weekend for Easter (good) and an all day "spiritual inservice" (bad). I could do worse.

I'm back! It took an entire day to get home (taxi, train, plane, plane, car, complete with a mad rush through the St. Louis airport, crying babies and the like), and my internal time clock is all out of whack, but I made it back.

I hardly need to tell you that the trip was amazing. We did more stuff that I would have thought possible in a week. Here's a rundown:
Museums: I count 7, but there could be others
Palaces/Castles: 3, but Buckingham is lame even with the changing of the guard
Nights on a mattress in the hallway: 7 (but it wasn't that uncomfortable)
Fire alarms: 2
Street markets: 4 (possibly my favorite thing we did)
Money spent: not bad, actually. Would be less if I hadn't bought clothes.
Days with wonderful (jacketless) weather: 4-5
Musicals: 1
Underground passes: 5
Times lost: none when I was by myself, with the group maybe 4.

More detail to follow, to be sure. I also have a lot of digital pictures to sort through. I'll post them as soon as I can. Back to work soon, blegh.

So. I'm sitting here trying to remember what's happened since I wrote last. It's…Tuesday today. I wrote on Sunday. The timestamp says 4:40AM, but that's mountain time, not GMT. (This keyboard sucks. I can't find anything.) Speaking of Greenwich, that's where everyone else is today. I'm up on Camden Street. I'm going to buy some bread and cheese and things for lunch, go to Kensington Palace, eat in Hyde Park somewhere, and then find a street market. Doesn't that sound fun? I'm pretty good with the underground. I can more or less navigate the city without getting lost. Tonight we're going to go see Chicago. Eric bought the tickets. Go Eric.

Let's see. Sunday I met my family at the Museum of London, though I didn't stay long enough to really see anything. My mom and I went to Petticoat Lane and shopped for tacky clothes and whatnot. We also went to Old Spitalfields Market and bought some produce and bread. For the rest of the day I carried and artichoke, a lemon, sausage, and a loaf of bread in my backpack. (Y'all had better be clicking these links since I'm going to the trouble of researching them.)

We met the rest of the group at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Amazing museum. It's a little like the Tinkertown Museum in Tijeras (really random things with no logical layout or order,) but with really nice stuff, nice displays, and amazing architecture. OK, so it's not like Tinkertown.

Yesterday my mom and I went to the Girl Scout World Center. We got a tour of the building from a Brazilian Girl Scout who was volunteerting there. I know this sounds really dorky, but I actually enjoyed it a lot, so whatever.

My mom and I met everyone else at the London Science Museum, and we went out for Fish and Chips for dinner. No word on the kidney pie yet John, but I'm working on it. I'm almost out of time here. I'm mailing out postcards today to those of you who asked for one.
